Visualisation Competition

The Economics of Ecosystems and Biodiversity (TEEB) teamed up with Visualizing.org and Challengepost.com to run a visualization challenge. Participants were asked to design a static or interactive visualization that would be appealing and informative for a general audience, and help “visualize the value of nature.” Optional datasets from a TEEB case study about deforestation in Leuser National Park and data from the Global Footprint Network were also available to participants.

The judging panel included Visualizing.org (with jury members from Seed Magazine, General Electric), Global Footprint Network, Large Blue and TEEB. Judging took place on March 1st and after much friendly debate we can now announce the winner as: Jacob Houtman with the “Value of Nature -Ecological Footprint and Biocapacity.”
