Title: TEEB- The Economics of Ecosystems and Biodiversity: Key findings and responses
Pavan Sukhdev, Study Leader for the global study into The Economics of Ecosystems and Biodiversity will present final key findings and recommendations from across the TEEB reports. The study’s goal is to help policy makers, businesses and citizens to formulate responses to address losses of biodiversity and ecosystem services. Collectively, these actions have the power to halt and reverse the losses of natural capital and to improve well-being for humanity, especially the poor. This session will include high level responses from countries including Japan and Brazil. It will also announce the publication of the Earthscan volume of the Ecological and Economic Foundations of TEEB.
Speakers include: Pavan Sukhdev, TEEB study leader; Ahmed Djoghlaf, CBD; Ibrahim Thiaw, UNEP; Nicola Breier, BMU; Karl Falkenberg, European Commission; Braulio Dias, Ministry for Environment Brazil; and Mr Hideki Minamikawa, Vice Minister for Global Environmental Affairs, Ministry of the Environment, Japan.
This session will be followed by a press conference in the International press room from 15.00-15.30.

This session presents key findings and recommendations for Local Policy and Business including Japanese best practices and other findings based on the “policy studies of environmental economics” program of MOE-J. It includes responses from the public and private sector and highlights practical next steps via stimulating discussion from an international pane.

Title: TEEB 4 Me: communicating the value of Nature
As the business sector and policy makers at both the national and local level incorporate the value of nature into decision-making, they are faced with the challenge and opportunity of raising awareness of this concept amongst citizens and consumers. Professionals from advertising, the media and the NGO sector explore how to communicate the value of nature using channels from film, advertising and journalism to social media.
